It’s Time to Increase the Minimum Wage. It’s only fair!

British Columbia is beautiful… but has some of the highest cost of living, and some of the lowest minimum wage in Canada. No one who works full-time should be in poverty.

We believe the minimum wage should bring people working 35 hours per week above the poverty line, so they can support themselves and their families.

Using every standard measure of poverty, $15 an hour would bring workers’ wages above the poverty line. It will also benefit local businesses and support the local economy by putting money in workers’ pockets to spend in their community.

In the spring of 2018, the government of British Columbia announced that the minimum wage will increase to $15.20 and hour on June 1, 2021 (following increases every June 1 leading to 2021).

We would like to thank all of the coalition partners, supporters, activists and students that have supported and fought for this important victory.
