The purpose of the DSU Dance club is:
To host a place were the club can provide chess boards in order for people to play casual games and improve there shills.
The club will also help guide people to learn chess effectively by offering lessons and learning resources although this part of the club is optional for members.
Hosting tournaments will be another club purpose. It will host official Chess Federation of Canada rated tournaments as well as in house ones and maybe International Chess Federation rated tournaments.
It will also create events were people can play club members to win prizes of just as a challenge to promote club awareness.
The club will also hire or ask professional chess players to show up sometimes and teach chess.
Club Mission
The Douglas College Chess Club is open to everyone, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been playing for years. We will meet regularly, it’s a casual drop-in, so feel free to come and go whenever you need to. We have plenty of boards ready for games, plus chess books and experienced players around to help you improve. Beyond our weekly meetups we host in-house tournaments, official CFC-rated tournaments, and occasional lessons from professional players. It’s a great place to pick up new strategies and meet people and play chess.
Come by and play a round!
