DSU Submissions to the Select Standing Committee on Finance & Government Services

The Douglas Students’ Union along with local schools of the BC Federation of Students get the opportunity to advocate for change at provincial and federal levels of government throughout the academic year. Each year the government strikes up a Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services headed by the Minister of Finance to hear from British Columbians’, local stakeholders, non-profits and community organizations for the upcoming fiscal budget. It is the finance committees' job to hear from boots on the ground about changes that need to be made in different sectors in BC. From there, the province's budget for the upcoming year is formed. It is critical for the sector of public post-secondary education to have a seat at the table and voice the financial needs within BC’s institutions.
